SEYUN – Karimoku & Zaha Hadid

This unique fusion of Zaha Hadid's unmistakable, innovative design language with Karimoku Furniture's unparalleled craftsmanship and quality has produced a furniture collection of breathtaking beauty, a dialogue between geometry, sensuality and materiality!

Two chairs have recently been included in the design collection of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.

Philosophy and Designers

Saha Hadid Design and Karimoku Furniture came up with a special collaboration that arose from a search for perfection. Perfection in both design and production. It came to life by bringing together ideas from London and craftsmanship from Japan.

Karimoku Furniture is a master of wood and the 'SEYUN' pieces celebrate this noble material. The furniture is made of oak from sustainably managed forests and comes in six unique finishes; Pure Oak, Smoked Oak and Grain Matte Black which are the Karimoku classics. While the oak finished with Silver, Metallic blue and Metallic black, is the typical Zaha Hadid Design addition. Karimoku Furniture's refined spraying technique – comparable to that of luxury cars – creates an extremely thin layer of paint, leaving the wood grain beautifully visible with an almost heavenly transparency.

The Models and Their Applications

The beautiful Seyun chair or the Seyun armchair, and there is now also an elegant lounge chair, can be made in natural oak, smoked oak or matte black and also in the unique Saha Hadid finishes in Silver, Metallic Blue and Metallic black.

Referencing Zaha Hadid's signature sense of aesthetics, each piece of the SEYUN collection exudes elegance and sensuality as well as prestige.

These pieces look like jewels, whether in a hotel lobby or a luxury yacht, a private dining room or a library...

Craftsmanship and History

The collaboration between Zaha Hadid Design and Karimoku Furniture will result in a collection of refined wooden furniture in the spring of 2023, consisting of chairs, armchairs and tables.

The SEYUN furniture pieces combine advanced technology and craftsmanship, asymmetrical parts made with modern woodworking machines and finished by hand by craftsmen. The collection embodies Karimoku Furniture's 'High-Tech and High-Touch' ethos.
