Hotel The Florian
Amsterdam School meets global millennial – that was our challenge for this new 150-room hotel located near Schiphol Airport.
Our goal was to create a space where guests could stay in comfortable, unconventional rooms and gather or work in a welcoming hospitality environment. We transformed the 1990s office building by adding a floor with golden louvers, renewing the entrance, and efficiently utilizing all the existing qualities of the building.
The hotel is inward-facing, with a lively central atrium, in contrast to the quiet outer ring where the rooms are located. For the interior, we chose timeless Dutch design classics by Gerrit Rietveld, Hendrik Willem Gispen, and Mart Visser, complemented by contemporary surprises from the new generation of Dutch designers. In the palette of shapes, materials, and colors, you can feel the Amsterdam School of 100 years ago, translated by us in a surprisingly contemporary way.
